Yokohama Sankeien Garden (Japanese Garden)

A Japanese style garden spreading over 175,000 square meters in Yokohama which was build by Sankei Hara, a silk trading business man. It was open to the public in 1906 and had to be restored in 1958 after suffering extensive damage during the war.

The garden boasts special features including historic buildings collected from Kyoto and the Kamakura areas. There are ten nationally designated buildings for important cultural properties and three
tangible cultural properties designated by Yokohama City (the city of Yokohama).

Various range of seasonal flowers arranged creates
every seasonal landscape in this garden.
No matter what the season, the scenery is a pleasure to see in this garden of all gardens.

China Town - Yokohama
There are 9 gates which enclose the town which has more than 100 restaurants, food and variety shops. Don't miss Kantei byo shrine. The very intricate, glittering decoration on it is being lit up of an evening creating an unique atomosphere.
There are two big events in this town;

Shun setdu
(1st of Jan.of the old calendar -
the 5th of Feb.in 2000)4.Feb.-7.Feb.2000

They celebrate New year's day starting at Kanteibyo Shrine. The night before the day(31st of Dec. of the old calendar), They count dawn at Kanteibyo shrine and when it turns to 0:00, the fire crackers start being set off, the lion dance is dedicated to the God.
On the next day(1st of Jan. of the old calender), the lion dance is held around the town.

Kokkei setsu (the 1st of Oct.)
Souju setdu (the 10th of Oct.)

It is held to celebrate Chinese national foundation.
While the fire crackers are being rung around the town,
the lion and dragon dance are performed.
There is also a parade with people in their national costume.

Access: 4-5 minute-walk from Ishikawacho station
(JR Negishi line). You can also get there from Kannai Station
( 6-7minute walk - Shiei-Chikatetu, JR Negishi lines).

This is a very unique museum where you can not only eat
Ramen but also learn about Ramen!
On the 1st floor, there is "Ramen Gallery" which displays information about Ramen including a history of instant noodles, a replica of the Ramen which was first made in Japan, various types of Ramen bowls collected from about 320 Ramen shops all over Japan. There is also a souvenirshop which sells Ramen you can buy to take home and even Ramen video games!

Also, "Ramen Town(Ramen no Machi)" on the B1/ B2 floors, which replicates a Japanese neighbor hood at dusk in the late'50S, creates a retro atomosphere. Nine Ramen shops which are from different areas of Japan stand in a raw in this town.
You can also enjoy a retro cheap sweet shop, a standing bar (Tachinomi Sanbaiya), a shot bar after meal.
