Observation deck are generally crowded on Friday evenings and weekends.
It is less crowded during weekday days.






MM21(Minato Mirai Niju-ichi) is part of large scale urban development project
for 21st century. The Land Mark Tower (Japan's tallest buillding), Cosmo Clock
(the World's third biggest Ferris wheel), Grand Inter Continental Hotel
(half circular shaped) are the main features of the MM21 development and,
for me, typify modern Japan and accentuates the beautiful Yokohama skyline.
It is recommended that you go in the evening (You can enjoy this area in the
day time as well of course!).

This is probably the one viewing spot no to miss!
You can get to Japan's highest observation deck (273m above the ground) in
about 40 seconds with e fastest elevator in the world (750m/min.)!
The sprawling jewel-like sight shows you a 360 degrees beautiful panorama
up to about 80km away.
You can see Mt.Fuji, Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Metropolitan Government building
and Boso peninsula on a clear day. There is a sourvenir shop on this floor.
There are nice shopping malls on the lower floors (Landmark Plaza), continuing
to other shopping malls including "Queen's Square" and "at!".
In christmas season, the building will be attractively decorated with other buildings
around it.

Access:5 minutes walk using the moving walk way from Sakuragicho station

You will be able to enjoy the illumination outside and the Yokohama scenery
from the 112.5m high conpartments which was the world's biggest
until "Big Ferris Wheel(Dai-Kanransha)" in Odaiba
was opened(115m above the ground) in Mar. of 1999...

Rinko Park

You can get a full view of Yokohama Bay spreading out right in front of you.
You can relax taking a long look at the sea in the daytime. It might be a little
cold in the evening in winter season, and also a little dark at night (maybe
a good place for couples???).

Access: about 15 minutes walk from Sakuragicho station (JR Negishi,
Tokyu Toyoko, Shiei Chikatetsu lines). Walk through Land mark Plaza,
Queen's Square and

Bankoku Bridge / Unga ParK

Shin-Minatomachi Naka-ku Yokohama-shi Kanagawa-ken

Bankoku Bridge: This bridge which has few pedestrians and is quiet,
but you can get a distant view of MM21-The Landmark Tower, Cosmo Clock
and some other Yokohama landmarks.
It is recommended that you go in the evening.
Unga Park: It is located at the entrance of Shin-Minatomachi area and
along the canal in front of a shopping center Yokohama World Porterts.
Tracks of former Rinko Railroad are running from Kishamichi promenade
through this park to Shin-minatomachi area. You can get the great view
of MM21 here! (A photo is on the top of this MM21 area section.)

Access: About 8-9 minutes walk from
Sakuragicho station(JR Nigshi, Tokyu Toyoko, Shiei Chikatetsu lines).

Yokohama International Passenger Terminal (at Osanbashi Pier)

The observation deck is on the third floor. You can get 360 degrees of
almost all the scenes of this area with Yokohama Bay spreading out right
in front of you; including MM21 area, Yamashita park with Hikawa-maru
(moored ship), Bay Bridge etc.

Access: 15 minutes walk from Kannai station (JR Negishi, Shiei chikatetsu lines).

Yamashita Park and Hikawa-maru (passenger ship)

The most famous park in Yokohama (opened in 1930), streachs along the Bay side.
There is "a girl in red shoes" statue that is well-known as there is a children's song
about her (Another good place for couples???).
Hikawa-maru is a moored passenger ship alongside Yamashita Park.
You can enjoy a gallery, cruesing theater, restaurant and cafe with nice evening
views of the bay and Yokohama area inside.
It is lit up in the evening until 23:00. It is also decorated in Christimas season.

Marine Tower

This decagon shaped light house is the highest in the world. From the obsevation
deck 100m above the ground you can get a wide marvellous panolama of Yokohama
which includes Yokohama Bay, MM21, Bay Bridge and Yokohama main area etc.
Check out a toy museum on the 3rd floor (charge 200 yen for adult).

Art Paintings on the wall

There is powerful pop art graffiti on the wall along Rt.16 under the JR line
railroad bridge. If you have time left, go see it!

Access: 3 minutes walk from Sakuragicho station(JR Negishi,Tokyu Toyoko,
Shiei Chikatetsu lines. Go to the opposit side
of MM21.
It is along the Rt.16, JR line under the line bridge.
